Welcome to Figs and Fancies for Curious Readers. For someone who thinks they should be writing a blog, I’m disturbingly short on ideas about where to start for this auspicious first post. Wanna talk about Books?! I can’t shut up. The perfectly witty essay about myself? I’m uncharacteristically lost for words.

Figs and Fancies is a long-delayed dream of mine. Finally, I’ve decided to let go of “someday,” and “when there’s time to make it perfect,” and the least helpful, “will anyone read it?” and just leap forward.

Buried in the pages with a good story has long been the place I feel most at home and books have seen me through some of my loneliest and most challenging times. They have also been a way to make friends, learn interesting things and solve problems, and to travel the world when it wasn’t physically possible to run away from it all.

By day I’m a Social Enterprise Executive and I work in the Education and Not-for-profit sectors. I have two wild and crazy golden retrievers, am a space enthusiast (and get to be a Solar System Ambassador to help educate others about the missions and work of NASA) and believe that chocolate (especially in the sublime form of fudge) is one of humankind’s greatest discoveries.
